No, anyone can refer themselves to a psychologist.
You will need a referral if you would like to receive certain rebates (e.g. Medicare, Private Health).

Depending on the type of referral you have, you may be eligible for a rebate.

A payment of 50% of the standard consultation fee will be required for any appointments that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, and 100% of the fee if your appointment is missed, forgotten, or cancelled on the day of the appointment.
